Who We Are
American Cancer Society On Campus at Brown University is a collegiate branch of the nationwide American Cancer Society that empowers the Brown and Providence community to join the fight against cancer. ACS at Brown aims to improve the lives of those affected by cancer through advocacy, research, education, and patient support, to ensure the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
As part of our chapter, members will be involved in a variety of service initiatives including events that recognize those with cancer, fundraisers to raise money for cancer research and treatment, and policy work for cancer issues. Our goal is to build a diverse, close-knit community that contributes to the larger ACS agenda.Join our community today in the fight!
What We Do
American Cancer Society (ACS) at Brown collaborates with the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Together, we help to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, fundraising, and service.

Our club specifically offers various routes that members can take to participate in the fight against cancer. Through ACS CAN (Cancer Action Network), we collaborate with local legislature on issues surrounding cancer to pass bills that will alleviate the pain of cancer patients and families. Through major fundraising events such as Making Strides of Providence, and Relay for Life at Brown, we rally our city and school communities to raise money and walk together for cancer research and awareness. Through our educational efforts, we give talks and host events at local middle and high schools relating to educate the youth on cancer education, research, and tell stories from cancer survivors. Through our volunteering programs (e.g. ACS @ Brown x Lifespan), club members can support cancer patients in a clinical setting at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children's Hospital.
